Michael Noer is an idiot, for lack of a better word. I really don't understand why when anything is wrong, it's always women who get blamed and have to take responsibility for everything!!! I think some men who are not secure with themselves have a hard time dealing with their wife making more money than them, but they need to get over it. It's articles like this that reinforce the idea that women can't work, be mothers, and be happy at the same time. I'm pretty sure most women are happy working and being a mom, it's society who has an issue with it. I'm in shock that this was an actual article written in a legitimate magazine. It's so sexist that I'm at a loss for words. But Elizabeth Corcoran's comeback had me laughing and was on point! -Lainey Boyce
i agree with lainey, this guy is ridiculous and its crazy that his mindset is the way it is. you can't just assume that every marriage will fail if you marry a successful woman. elizabeth is a prime example that a marriage can work perfectly fine if both partners are in the work force. There are SO MANY other reasons why marriages may or may not work out so to say that if a woman works more than 35 hours a week and makes more than $30,000 that the marriage will probably end up in divorce. that is so naive. especially since its blaming the woman. So for a marriage to work a woman can't have a career? i'm so glad that there was a counterpoint to this guy cuz his ideas are ridiculous. i plan on getting married and having a fulltime career and i know my marriage could easily work out if i am a working woman.
I thought it was funny how Michael said that basically women are and will be unhappy in every situation. Judging off that, he seems better suited for a husband, rather than a wife. On a serious note, his research and facts are extremely one sided, which Elizabeth mentions. His studies focus on what the woman is doing wrong or how shes feeling of how she impacts the relationship, yet a man has no part in it. Especially when he states that a man working more hours has no effect on the marriage. So, any man in the world who spends less time with their partner has absolutely no effect on the marriage, yet if a woman chooses to work it is the complete opposite? -Kevin Ung
