When I read this article, I immediately connected it to Dorothy Allison's life story and the hardships she faced. This blogger talks about Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney and his apathy towards the "very poor." If it were up to him, he'd cut all government funded organizations that assist the financially unstable. I think that someone who is this far out of touch from the opposite end of the spectrum doesn't get to see how it feels not to have essential needs. Dorothy Allison grew up in a household that was deprived of basic lifestyle needs, and I feel that she would be appauled by this act of selfishness.
I also felt this article related to the "us" and "them" that Dorothy Allison mentions in her story.
