Mike Falzone is a great Youtuber, and he's always very straight-forward. This video is a great representation of why people, especially women should stop comparing themselves to others. In regards to reaching the idealized feminine beauty, women should not strive to look like other people. If you want to lose some weight or get in shape, do it for you...not for other people. There's no reason to compare yourself to others, because you will just be disappointed.

Human Barbie's Latest Video
http://thestir.cafemom.com/entertainment/171674/human_barbies_latest_video_shows
A 28-year old Ukranian model claims to have a body with the same proportions as Barbie. This so called "idealized" form of beauty is beyond disturbing, and sad to think that someone would go to such extremes to achieve this type of unnatural beauty. She must be ridiculously insecure and sad with her life, especially for the fact that her video does not show any of her friends. It actually looks like she shot the whole video of herself, which is even more sad. It is unfortunate that women are held up to such standards that they feel like they have to be perfect and achieve this fake form of beauty. Women should just be happy with who they are, and not for what they look like.

Bollywood Video Showing Acceptance for Gay Couples
http://www.buzzfeed.com/lesterfeder/watch-this-fabulous-bollywood-video-promoting-acceptance-for
I really liked this video because it showed a completely different culture than what we are used to talking about. Gay rights is a struggle all over, and this video debuts at a critical moment in India’s LGBT rights debate. The Supreme Court of India is considering a final review of a recent decision upholding the country’s sodomy law, which conflicts with another recent ruling acknowledging broad rights for trans people. Hopefully this video is another step in the right direction and getting equality for everyone.

Ogilvy & Mather Makes Award-Winning Ad
http://www.adweek.com/news/advertising-branding/ogilvy-paris-takes-top-honor-webby-awards-157301
Ogilvy & Mather, which is a very well known marketing and advertising agency just won 7 awards for its work for Google+, Perrier and Scrabble. This commercial on same sex marriage is very powerful, and definitely worth watching. It demonstrates same sex couples in France getting married via online with a priest from Belgium going through the official service. It is all through Google+ that they were able to get this accomplished, so it definitely makes the brand stronger in that regard. Ogilvy should be very proud of this ad, and I am even more proud to say that I will be interning with this company this summer so I am very glad that they are making ads to cater toward all kinds of people.

New MTV Show to Address Race, Gender, and LGBT
http://www.buzzfeed.com/anitabadejo/mtv-launches-new-campaign-to-address-biases
This article is a demonstration of the fact that our society is changing and catering more to what people are actually interested in. MTV's audience feels strongly about equality and fairness, yet people don't really have a language to talk about it. There's going to be three phases of the show, the first will focus on racial bias, the second will focus on gender bias, and the third will focus on anti-LGBTQ bias. I think it is great that MTV is making a new show to cater towards people like this, but at the same time I hope they don't make a mockery of it.

domestic violence
if you put a frog in boiling water, it will jump out
if you put a frog in warm water and gradually turn up the heat until the water is boiling, the frog will remain there until it dies
and that is an abusive relationship
http://dailycurrant.com/2014/04/10/female-softball-player-comes-out-as-straight/
this article is meant to be sarcastic i suppose. the headline is "female softball player comes out as straight." at the bottom of the article, it says a bit about how an openly gay man was signed to the nba. with that said, i think this article is a play on how sports are perceived as having a straight majority other than softball. the media was covering the openly gay basketball player as a huge story. since softball players are stereotyped as being lesbians, is coming out as straight such a taboo? we live in a world where if someone comes out as gay they require support. support because there are others opposed and need to defend their lifestyle. while i'm not sure if this article is real or not, it shows the roles reversed and having to "defend" being straight against gay.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FczvmLnBTEsthis is a commercial for Summer's Eve body wash which is for women. the commercial shows a man accidentally using his wife's wash and feeling as if he needs to gain his masculinity back. the man does activities that are stereotypically considered masculine in society so he is not perceived as a sissy. at the end of the commercial, his wife says "that was close."
what i don't understand is that this is for a female product so why are they offending women in the ad? why are the "manly" activities considered male? it is insinuating that these activities are not suitable for women which is very sexist. this man is obviously not confident in his sexuality so he has to "prove" how strong he is to his wife. from a feminist viewpoint, this video is offensive.

What's really holding women back in the workplace?
http://www.policymic.com/articles/87879/it-s-not-the-confidence-gap-here-s-what-s-really-holding-women-back?utm_content=buffere123e&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook.com&utm_campaign=buffer
Recently in class we've been discussing the gender wage gap in the workplace. As many of you know, women only make an average of 77 cents to every dollar a man makes. While many agree this is unacceptable, not everyone recognizes the reasons behind it. Several recent articles have suggested there is a "confidence gap" between women and men. These articles claim that while women tend to undervalue their accomplishments, men overvalue them and that's precisely what makes them more successful. I found this to be somewhat ridiculous, so I looked into it and found an interesting article suggesting some more realistic solutions to the gender wage gap. Instead of reducing this inequality to lower self-esteem and confidence, the author writes about how the workplace and society itself should change its attitudes and practices to better support women. It's not the woman's fault she is paid less than a man!
