International Women's Day!

Here is a advertisement I made to present International Women's Day which happens annually on March 8th.  I also shared some history on IWD which got its beginnings in Russia where women began a strike for "bread and peace" in response to the death over 2 million Russian soldiers in war. Opposed by political leaders the women continued to strike until four days later the Czar was forced to abdicate and the provisional Government granted women the right to vote. The date the women's strike commenced was Sunday 23 February on the Julian calendar then in use in Russia. This day on the Gregorian calendar in use elsewhere was 8 March. So that is why we celebrate on March 8th. To find events local to your area just use http://www.internationalwomensday.com, their site includes a section where people around the world can post events going on. So next March 8th do not forget to celebrate all the great women in your life and all the great women around the world! #transnationalfeminism
